The fear is an unpleasant emotional feeling caused by a presence or expectations of the likelihood of dangers or something bad. It can emanate from feelings or thoughts that we developed towards our job security, marriages, accidents, wars, death, mortgages, bills and things goes on.While fear has many possible causes and its repercussions, one great fear that should have us more fearful is one of sinning against God.
One great example of this can be seen from the life of Eve and Adam. Both of these persons were created in the perfect image of God. They enjoyed the most privileged and satisfying position that nay human being can have - walking and talking with the Almighty God. Success , security and all year round blessings were all in their favor until the day they deliberately sinned against the commands of God.The Bible says in Genesis 3:8-10, that when God inquired of the reason for Adams hiding, this was his response, " I heard thy voice in the garden and I was afraid". Adam who was a good friend of God is now a changed person. His good relationships with Him is now hijacked by a crippling fear. God's voice is now a terror to him.. Fear overwhelmed him and he sought refuge among the worthless leaves. Flowers and the leaves created for the enjoyment is providing hospitality to the fearful man.
The situations and the environment may be far from what we have today compared to what Adam had but the human emotion concerning fear and the efforts to take cover from the sin is still the same, when we deliberately permit sins in our lives. We we sinned against God we should be fearful because we are actually breaking away from His security and peace.
It is not much of a fear for those living reckless and godless lives, but it is something for those who seek security, salvation and peace in God, through His son Jesus Christ.Just like what Adam did, we can feel insecure and find means and ways to cover up our nakedness before God almighty. In this position, some have even changed fellowships locations, denominations, marriages, jobs and some even have developed some secular arguments to defend their sinful lifestyles. To me these are all layers of 'leaves' that we wear to hide ourselves from the all seeing God. No matter how thick they maybe we are still naked before God.
How can we be saved?
How did God saved Adam?
He designed a costumed that would save them from being exposed(Genesis 3:21). This made the reconciliation complete for them bu this was symbolic for Jesus Christ the lamb of God who will ultimately be the savior of the world. Just like Adam did we need the God's method of salvation for our sins. Have you sought that already?
What is your standing with God? Are you still nursing pet sins in your life and hiding that from your wife, pastor etc?
Make necessary amendments today and save your souls from eternal damnation.
God bless you
